MAURIZIO DEI LAZZARETTI

In 1975 he obtains the Licence of Theory and Solfeggio at the Conservatory Tito Schipa of Lecce, then he attends the percussion course at the Conservatory Piccinni of Bari with the teacher Walter Scotti. In 1978 he attended a specialization course at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, studying jazz drumming with Robert Kaufman and Bill Norine, Big band ensamble with Phil Wilson, achieving the final score: A. In the same period he also studied with Alan Dawson and Gary Chaffee. In 1979 he started his artistic activity playing on tour until 1981 with Romano Mussolini’s Jazz quintet composed by: Romano Mussolini piano fender, Tony Scott clarinet, Marcello Rosa trombone, Lino Ranieri bass, Maurizio Dei Lazzaretti drums. In the same period he recorded his first cd: Soft & Swing. Subsequently, he works in different musical fields collaborating in recording studios and on tour with numerous Italian pop artists, including: Lucio Dalla, Mina, Laura Pausini, Renato Zero, Riccardo Cocciante, Francesco De Gregori, Gianni Morandi, Fabio Concato, Alex Britti, Mango, Mia Martini, Albano, Roberto Vecchioni, Tony Esposito, Michele Zarrillo and many others.

Since 1980 he has collaborated as a drummer with the Rai and Mediaset orchestras in numerous television productions, including all editions of the Sanremo Festival from 2001 to 2015. During the above mentioned productions, he had the opportunity to accompany international artists such as: Ray Charles, Al Jarreau, Caetano Veloso, Michael Bouble’, Paul Young, Randy Crawford, Gavin Degraw, Dionne Warwick, Brian May, Michael Bolton, Natalie Cole, Dolores O’Riordan, Cat Steven, Rufus Wainwright.
