MEL GAYNOR

Mel Gaynor is known all over the world as the drummer for Simple Minds. He began playing the drums at age 11 and had his first professional engagement at the age of 14 years. Thanks to record producer Pete Walsh he did a session playing on Simple Mind’s 1982 album “Gold Dream”. In addition to playing drums Mel is active as a composer and record producer. Credits also include: Elton John, Lou Reed, Tina Turner, Meat Loaf, Peter Gabriel, The Pretenders, Gary Moore, Little Steven, Brian May, Robert Palmer and many more.

Mel uses padouk and motenia walnut snares in the studio and live. They satisfy the sonic quest of the renowned drummer known for powerful drumming and unique style.
